The first rumors were already circulating in May that the promising Forspoken might not meet the release date in autumn. Now there is certainty: The PS5 console exclusive title will only come in 2023.
Unfortunately, rumors from spring have once again come true: Forspoken, which was actually scheduled for October 11, 2022, will no longer be released in autumn and will actually slip into the coming year 2023. In addition to the PC, the Square Enix title will be released in the console area exclusively for the PS5 and is above all a beacon of hope there.
The mix of action-adventure and role-playing game from Luminous Productions will only be available from January 24, 2023. In the justification, mang spoke of a “strategic decision” that should also give the development team more time for fine-tuning.
Another postponement is unlikely insofar as the statement also states: “All game elements are now complete and development is in the final phase of fine-tuning. We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience on this journey .Your excitement about the game inspires us every day and we can’t wait to share more about Forspoken later this summer.”
For Forspoken it is the second major postponement after it should have been available in May of this year. The phrasing surrounding the “strategic decision” makes one sit up and take notice that previous rumors said Forspoken would be postponed again should Final Fantasy XVI be ready for a fall release. Square Enix does not want to publish both top titles in competition with each other in the same period. So could Final Fantasy XVI await us sooner than initially thought? We will keep you up to date!
Shortly after the postponement to October 11, 2022, the new trailer “Worlds Collide” from the State of Play provides new moving impressions from Forspoken.
