YouTuber EazySpeezy, who describes himself as the “casual side of speedrunning,” recently set himself the challenge of completing Cuphead as fast as possible while trying to climb the mountain. Using a laptop carried in an open backpack by a friend, the gamer played through the game climbing approximately 2,790 feet to the top of Vermont’s largest mountain, Mount Mansfield.
The final recorded time for the entire passage was 08:02:02. That’s over eight hours of play, which included occasional rests, descents, a drive, and even final moments in a hotel room after EazySpeezy’s laptop battery died and they couldn’t charge it for an hour. Cuphead itself is mind-blowingly difficult, so being able to complete it on a long hike is an impressive feat, no matter how long it took to complete. We hope that EazySpeezy’s speedrunning career will take off after this.
