Creating cheats is a fairly lucrative industry with revenues in the tens of millions of dollars. Fortunately, most often it is illegal and punishable by imprisonment in especially serious cases.
It was this decision that was made to Andrey Kirsanov from Yekaterinburg. He created cheats for World of Tankss and, allegedly, caused harm in the amount of $670 million. For these actions, he was sentenced to 2.5 years of restraint of liberty, although the prosecutor’s office asked for 1.5 years.
This is the first court of its kind in Russia and the setting of a precedent. Kirsanov was engaged in bots for World of Tanks, which helped players to level up. This practice is banned in the games, but it is the first time anyone has been imprisoned for it.
World of Tankss is available for free on PC.
