Altice Portugal, owner of the MEO consumer brand, continues its path of having Portugal at one speed. As such, it formalized a protocol to improve the quality and coverage of optical fiber and mobile service in the municipality of Penacova.
Penacova receives quality improvements and fiber optic and mobile network coverage from Altice
This is a partnership that provides connectivity coverage with state-of-the-art fiber optics to 80% of the municipality’s inhabitants. In addition, the mobile network infrastructure is reinforced with the installation of two new base stations: one in the Parish of Penacova and the other in the Parish of Lorvão.
Altice Portugal states that “today 6.3 million Portuguese homes and companies are covered with fiber optic from Altice Portugal, the largest national fiber optic network”. Thus, the operator claims that this is the largest fiber optic network in Europe.
It wants to position itself as the biggest investor and partner of Portuguese municipalities, providing them with state-of-the-art technology and a mobile network of excellence. To this end, “it has been traveling the regions from north to south in order to bring state-of-the-art networks without looking at population densities or the centrality of territories”.
This is a protocol that aims to unite efforts between Altice Portugal and the Municipality of Penacova. Thus, all inhabitants of the municipality can have access to the same opportunities as inhabitants of large centers.
This reinforcement of connectivity by Altice Portugal aims to contribute to the great development of the Beira Litoral region. But it also intends to unite support for Portuguese traditions and territory.
