In the 1/16 finals of the US Open doubles, Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok, together with her partner Alena Ostapenko, defeated Anna Bondar (Hungary) and Gret Minnen (Belgium).

After a devastating loss in the first set, the Ukrainian-Latvian pair confidently took the second game, and left no chance in the decisive tie-break in the third.
In the previous round, Kichenok and Ostapenko defeated Panna Udvardi (Hungary) and Tamara Zidansek (Slovenia).
Note that for Lyudmila and Alena this victory was the seventh in a row. At the end of August, they won the WTA 1000 series hard tournament in Cincinnati (USA).
In the next round, the Ukrainian and Latvian will meet with the winners of the match Caroline Garcia (France) / Kristina Mladenovic (France) – Nadia Podoroska (Argentina) / Mayar Sheriff (Egypt).
