This morning, there was a large congestion of taxis on Kutuzovsky Prospekt in the west of the capital, which caused a traffic jam in which drivers had to stand for more than two hours. The press service of Yandex.Go told Forbes that the incident was caused by a failure in the work of the Yandex Taxi aggregator, which occurred due to dozens of fake orders.
“On the morning of September 1, Yandex Taxi encountered an attempt by attackers to disrupt the service — several dozen drivers received bulk orders to the Fili region,” the press service said.
According to a representative of the Yandex.Go press service, the service’s security service managed to quickly deal with the problem, thanks to which the service’s cars began to work as usual after a short time. The company representative added that the algorithm for detecting and preventing such attacks has been improved in order to avoid the recurrence of similar incidents in the future. It was also promised to resolve in the near future the issue of compensation to drivers due to downtime.
This year in June in Russia there was a massive failure of taxi ordering services, including Yandex Go and Uber, due to which users could not call a taxi in Moscow and the regions. About an hour after the publication of this, the Yandex.Go press service announced the restoration of access to the service and promised to “make every effort” so that this would not happen again.
