A sidebar has been added to the Microsoft Edge browser that provides quick access to mail, office applications and other tools. Sidebar widgets are customizable, and the company is expected to add more in the future.
In a Microsoft blog, they said that the Edge browser has a side menu with quick access to the company’s main services. For example, users now have the ability to view and send emails without going to a separate tab.
You can also open a list of recent documents created in Office from the sidebar. From the menu, you can launch both the applications themselves and documents. It’s important to note that files open in a new tab, not in a widget like mail.
There is also a Discovery mode, which makes it easier to browse the web. The function scans the contents of the page and collects only the most important information in a separate window. For example, if you go to a site with a recipe for a dish and activate the mode, the system will remove all the introductory parts from the recipe, leaving only a list of ingredients and step-by-step instructions. In complex articles, the system supplements important terms with explanatory excerpts from Wikipedia.
The company said that it is going to support and develop the side menu in the browser. New features and modes are coming soon to make your work easier.
