343 Industries recently announced that the local Halo Infinite co-op has been canceled. However, some players have found that it is still possible to activate it thanks to a glitch. The “cheat” only works on Xbox Series X | S and requires an online friend who owns Halo Infinite.
The whole thing was discovered by Twitter user @Zeny_IC and the information was shared by the Halo Creation account, a French community dedicated to fan creations on Halo. At the time of writing, the glitch still works, but it is possible that 343 Industries will block it.
You can see the details of how it works in the video below, shared via Twitter by Halo Creation.
The steps to activate the Halo Infinite local co-op campaign glitch are as follows:
Go to the campaign menu and load a save Start the game As soon as “load map” appears, go to the friends list and join a friend’s game that is in the Halo menu Infinite Leave the team you just joined In the lobby, below “server”, select “offline” Connect with other controllers and profiles directly on Xbox Start the game
As stated, this glitch should work for up to four players: cinematic sequences work, enemies appear normally, and Halo Infinite can be played. However, this is an unofficial method, so it is possible that there are some problems that prevent you from playing easily. Furthermore, the whole procedure has a number of requirements that may not be easily met by the players.
Either way, it’s an interesting method that could allow players to play Halo Infinite locally co-op even if 343 Industries won’t officially support it. Recall that the cancellation of the local coop was not the only bad news shared by 343I.
