President of Dynamo Kyiv Igor Surkis spoke about his relationship with Rinat Akhmetov.
– Have you talked with Akhmetov for a long time?
– Once I spoke with him after the start of a full-scale invasion, but it was such a short communication. I think it was at the farewell ceremony with Leonid Kravchuk.
You can say whatever you want, but Akhmetov is a person who is the first to respond to someone else’s grief. And the first, when Kravchuk became ill, he called German doctors from Germany to consult him. And he gave his plane, brought these doctors. Then there was a recommendation to send Kravchuk to Germany. He stayed there for almost 8 months, where I visited him several times.
It was a difficult operation, which Todurov performed superbly. Even German doctors appreciated it. We went to Munich with my brother, visited Kravchuk several times with Sergei Levochkin. We all had hope that he would get better. But, unfortunately … They say that the date of birth and death is written immediately. But it happened, bright memory to him.
Akhmetov, if God forbid what grief – you can always count on him. I guarantee you. The help that he provides is an honor and praise to him for this. He probably lost more in business than anyone else during the war. He is a patriot of Ukraine, he has not traveled anywhere, he is here.
But I’ll tell you frankly – I would also be happy to sit in Kyiv at our base. The team has now moved in there, we don’t know how to accommodate it, because the mothers and grandmothers of many footballers’ wives continue to live there.
We lived in the USSR when there were pioneers, Komsomol members, Octoberists. I couldn’t even imagine that this was possible. And they stayed there – in Russia. Trust me, stay there. First, an Octobrist, then a pioneer, then a member of the Komsomol, then a member of the party – they live in such a paradigm to this day. They do not understand what it means to live freely, not to grovel before anyone, to say what you want,” said Surkis.
