The Last of Us Part 1 is out now for PS5 (a PC version is in development), but Naughty Dog continues to talk about its features. The new video focuses on the “feelings” that the remake focuses on, using 3D audio and haptic feedback via DualSense.
One of the benefits of 3D audio is that you can hear enemies before they can sneak up on you. Game Director Matthew Gallant also notes that it “reinforces the sense of grounding. You are in this character. You are in this world.” As for haptic feedback, it allows you to feel the sound of raindrops while walking in the rain. Thunder and snow can also be felt through the controller.
Adaptive triggers also come into play during combat, providing realistic feedback when firing weapons. All this enhances the immersion in the game and ideally allows you to feel like part of the world.
