As you yourself know very well, after the special military operation in Ukraine that began more than six months ago, foreign companies began to leave Russia en masse. Among the first of them were the world’s most popular payment systems – Visa and Mastercard.
Since then, in fact, the only international payment system working for us has been the Chinese UnionPay. Since the departure of Visa and Mastercard, Russians have lined up en masse at banks for UnionPay cards. That’s just, as practice shows, these cards may not be very reliable.
Already now, fearing sanctions from the West, the Chinese system has begun to limit the functionality of its cards in our country. True, so far the restrictions apply only to those bank cards that were issued outside our country, which will hit tourists first of all. From now on, it is no longer possible to pay with foreign UnionPay cards in Russian outlets. Meanwhile, the Chinese laptop maker Machenike is preparing to take over the Russian market, and Xiaomi’s cooking robot allows you to cook three dishes and soup at the same time.
