Gearbox Software Chief Operating Officer James Lopez in an interview with Rock Paper Shotgun confirmedthat the New Tales from the Borderlands adventure will not follow the model of the first part.
Recall that the original Tales from the Borderlands, following other Telltale Games games of that time, was released in parts (episodes) with a difference of two to four months (from November 2014 to October 2015).
As it became known, New Tales from the Borderlands, like the first Tales from the Borderlands, will also be divided into five chapters, but they will all be released at the same time: be it digital or retail.
According to Lopez, the shift away from the serial distribution model is dictated by changes in the industry and the team’s unwillingness to limit the way players consume content.
The release of New Tales from the Borderlands is expected on October 21 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. The game will tell a new story with unfamiliar (and familiar) characters.
