Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk watched the first episodes of The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power and publicly criticized the show.
The entrepreneur has tweeted several posts about the project, eloquently stating that “Tolkien is turning in his grave” from what The Lord of the Rings has become at the hands of Amazon Studios.
In another tweet, Musk added that he, in particular, didn’t like the way the show portrayed male characters.
“Almost every male character at the moment is shown as a coward, a jerk, or both. And only Galadriel is depicted as brave, smart and sweet.”
Profile publications rated “Rings of Power” as a whole positively, while the series received mostly negative reviews from the audience.
At the same time, the first viewing figures indicate a great interest in the show: in the first day, two premiere episodes were watched by 25 million people, which was the largest start in the history of the Amazon Prime Video streaming service.
The Rings of Power takes place 3,000 years before the main events of The Lord of the Rings. In total, Amazon plans to shoot five seasons, spending over $1 billion on it.
