WBC President Mauricio Suleiman said Tyson Fury could fight Anthony Joshua instead of Oleksandr Usyk as part of a voluntary heavyweight title defense.
The WBC cannot appoint this fight.
“Fury made a mandatory defense in April, so we can’t give him a fight. But he can make a self-imposed title defense against Joshua.”
“We understand that this is a big fight between two Britons. This is an extremely interesting fight,” Suleiman said.
It was previously reported that Fury’s next fight will be an all-belt fight against Oleksandr Usyk, but now there is a possibility that Tyson will be the first to enter the ring against Joshua, who does not have titles.
