CD Projekt’s “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” will be brought to the new consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. According to the developers, production is still on track.
Many gamers are eagerly awaiting the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. But after the launch debacle of “Cyberpunk 2077”, CD Projekt no longer seems to tend to rush jobs. The result: Geralt’s adventure, which has been lifted into the new generation of consoles, does not even have a date.
But at least the release period seems set in stone. In a brief statement, CD Projekt assured that the development of the new-gen version of “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” is still on track and the release should still take place in the previously communicated fourth quarter of 2022.
Possibilities of the new consoles are used
The confirmation was provided by Adam Kiciński, President and Chief Executive Officer of CD Projekt RED, at the company’s recent financial statements conference.
“In the fourth quarter of 2022, the company also plans to release an updated version of The Witcher 3 that leverages the capabilities of the next-generation consoles,” CD Projekt said in a recent financial report for the first half of the year.
In the past, fans’ patience has been tested quite a bit. Because the pimped-up fantasy adventure, which originally launched in 2015 for the last-gen consoles PS4 and Xbox One, has been repeatedly delayed.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S editions of the third witcher adventure are being developed externally by Saber Interactive, who also previously managed the RPG’s Nintendo Switch port. On the list of improvements, gamers can expect beefed up graphics, higher resolutions, better performance, faster loading times and, in the case of the PS5 version, support for DualSense features.
In the latest report, CD Projekt RED also confirmed that the company has started concurrent development of two upcoming AAA games. One of them is the new The Witcher, which many players have high hopes for.
After all, the series is a great success for CD Projekt – especially the most recently released part: As of April 14, 2022, the “The Witcher” franchise had sold more than 65 million copies, including over 40 million versions of “The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt”.

It is still unclear when “The Witcher 4” will be released. What is certain, however, is that the title is based on Unreal Engine 5. The corresponding advantages were already put into perspective last April.
