Forza Horizon 5 is getting a major content update later this week on September 15th, bringing a slew of new cars, vehicle mods, character mods, and more. The latest in a long line of free additions to the already massive open-world racing game, the highlight of this update is the new seasonal Horizon Road Trip adventure, inviting players to explore Mexico anew.
The launch of Forza Horizon 5’s 12th season of touring content is all about touring, with some of this season’s championship events longer than ever before. Players can expect to unlock five new cars by completing less restrictive PR stunts.
Three new cars have been added to the game: the 2021 Audi RS e-tron and RS 7, as well as the new Lynk & Co 03+. At the same time, the 1991 Bentley Turbo R and 2018 NISMO Sentra were made available, returning from the old Forza Horizon games. While it’s unlikely that any of these cars will be among the fastest in Forza Horizon 5, they should be great for low-end racing and road trips, as well as being extremely rare and desirable collectibles.
After the release of the acclaimed Hot Wheels DLC for Forza Horizon 5, Playground Games did not fail by continuing to regularly release content for the base game, which may be more appealing in nature to casual car fans. As interesting as Hot Wheels content is on its own, it’s heavily focused on the arcade side of the game, while regular seasonal content – like Horizon Road Trip Adventure – should satisfy those who prefer Forza when it’s a bit more realistic. .
It’s already clear that Forza Horizon 5 will feature new cars for the foreseeable future, but some feel the upcoming Forza Motorsport should have fewer cars. In particular, if Horizon games appeal to collectors and casual drivers, then Motorsport should focus on in-depth modeling of each of its vehicles. There were over 700 unique cars in Forza Motorsport 7, which can be overwhelming for a hyper-detailed sim.
Whatever the case, Forza Horizon 5 is slowly but surely adding to its roster of cars, making it likely to become one of the biggest, most complete, and best open-world racing games of all time. There will no doubt be more vehicles in the future, but players will have plenty to work with when Season 12 kicks off on September 15th.
