A new branch of heavy Chinese tanks with jet boosters is being prepared for release, which should make a revolution on the battlefield. By tradition, the developers are the first to submit the premium tier 8 BZ-176 tank to World of Tanks for the Supertest.
The new mechanics allows you to accelerate for 10 seconds 4 times per battle (the time may still change), while at the beginning of the activation of the jet acceleration, an “impulse” is given, which gives a “push” and gradually increases the speed. You can read more about rocket (jet) acceleration in a separate article, here we will tell you more about the new tank.
Characteristics are indicated in normal mode and using mechanics (in brackets). In contrast to Polish medium tanks, here, at the moment of acceleration, the stabilization of the gun does not deteriorate, but the number of charges is limited.
Overview of the BZ-176
The first thing that catches your eye is a 160 mm high-explosive gun, which is very unusual for a level 8. Despite the caliber of the gun, it has quite acceptable aiming time and good accuracy, and the developers claim that it also has normal stabilization.
Of course, reloading 25 seconds is infinitely long, the same Škoda T 56 will have time to reload the drum during this time, so misses here are very critical.
Armor penetration is only 75 mm with the base projectile, so it will be difficult to butt with bands in the forehead, for comparison, the Caliban has 180 mm. Taking into account the rebalance of high explosives, the effectiveness of their use with such reloading is a big question, except to shoot in a position, if there are no options to target vulnerable spots with a gold. The special projectile deals less damage, but the chance to penetrate (225 mm) is still higher, so it will be more stable for dealing damage.
The nominal armor of the tower is impressive, but the angle of inclination of the armor plates there is small, so you should not rely on the reduction. VLD is tilted, therefore it is better protected, but the bar between VLD and NLD is confusing, while it is not clear how many mm of armor there will be.
The vertical guidance angles deserve special praise, with such a tower it will be a real pleasure to play from the terrain, in the position of the BZ-176 it will be a really serious opponent.
The weakest part of the tank is its mobility: low top speed, low power-to-weight ratio and poor maneuverability. This is where the new mechanics with jet fuel comes to the rescue, which doubles the engine power, gives it speed and pushes it due to momentum.
At first glance, the tank looks, if not imbecile, at least extremely toxic: a strong turret, excellent HPP and a “high-explosive buggy” will cause a lot of inconvenience to opponents. The mechanics will correct the lack of mobility at especially important moments, jet boosters at the same time will help to quickly occupy key positions. A long reload will have to be increased by all available means, because the price of a miss is extremely high.
How to get BZ-176
Like the previous tanks before it: Object 703 variant 2 (double-barreled shotguns), Bisonte C45 (Italian TTs), M-IV-Y (American Yohs) – BZ-176 will go in New Year’s big boxes 2023, and the branch itself will be released in January . The next time the tank will appear on open sale no earlier than six months later.
Write in the comments what you think about the new tank and will you try to knock it out in New Year’s boxes? You can see pumped tanks and videos with mechanics in the overview of the vehicle branch with rocket boosters in World of Tanks.
