Activision presented the multiplayer mode of the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in a trailer today, but the bigger news for many players was the official announcement of the Battle Royale successor Warzone 2.0, which was also given a release date . According to this, you will be able to throw yourself into battle here from November 16, 2022 on PS4, PS5, PC (Battle.net, Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0
Warzone 2.0 is said to be a massive sequel to the previous Battle Royale spin-off. This takes place on a completely new map called Al Mazrah, which combines desert battles with urban street battles. There are dozens of new areas and POIs for you to explore. In addition, Al Mazrah also includes a new version of Warzone’s Gulag; here players can compete against each other in 2v2 matches. There are also some new mechanics in this segment.
The actual Battle Royale is to receive a new twist in that there will be several smaller, circular areas in which the battles are raging. Finally, the remaining players are then pulled further and further together.
Like the original Warzone, the sequel will also get all the weapons from the actual main game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which is known to be available a little earlier on October 26th. The two games also feature cross-progression and share game progress.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – Multiplayer
The multiplayer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 itself gets the Loadout 2.0 system as a new feature, which is based on the weapon customization system from the 2019 Modern Warfare and will give you even more options for customizing the weapons in the future. This system will also be part of Warzone 2.0.
The actual multiplayer formula of Call of Duty also receives some innovations, including optimized sprints or swimming movements. There are also major new options such as third-person multiplayer playlists – there have been rumors about this recently. The cooperative Spec Ops mode returns and there are AI players as an alternative on certain extra large maps. With raids and the sandbox mode DMZ, Infinity Ward also mentioned two new modes, but initially did not go into detail. The raids in particular sound interesting in principle, as they are more familiar from MMORPGs.
