During an interview with IGN Japan, Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondomière confirmed that the studio’s upcoming Star Wars game will keep what we’ve come to expect from it.
I think with every new game we try to innovate, try to explore new ground. In Star Wars Eclipse, we will certainly retain the core elements of the Quantic Dream games: a very strong story, very strong characters, lots of playable characters, and of course giving players the ability to change how the story unfolds with their actions and decisions.
Star Wars: Eclipse was officially announced at The Game Awards 2021 and promises to be “a multi-character, multi-character, multi-narrative action-adventure game set in the era of the High Republic in the iconic Star Wars galaxy.”
However, Quantum Dream is best known for its story-driven games, including Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human. A first look at Star Wars: Eclipse featured lightsaber combat and some iconic Star Wars locations. However, it won’t be just Star Wars, but a twist on the Quantic Dream formula.
We’ve made it very clear that we’re making an action-adventure game, so the action elements will also be very important. We can talk about this in the future, but keep in mind that this is an action-adventure game.
Whether this means that the game will lose branded quick events is still unknown. Since the announcement of the game, little else has become known. However, rumors of a game delay were quickly debunked – mostly because a release date was never announced.
