The other day, the announcement of Tekken 8, a new part of the popular fighting game, took place. After the announcement, as part of the Tokyo Game Show, in an interview with IGN, game director Katsuhiro Harada gave some details about what to expect from the new Tekken. In particular, he confirmed that the game is being developed on the Unreal Engine 5.
The head of development for Tekken 8 revealed that Unreal Engine 5 was chosen to take the Tekken 8 gaming series to the next level. According to him, even in the first trailer you can see how much prettier the game has become, and he believes that the graphics for Tekken are an important parameter, almost every part of Tekken set new standards for graphics for fighting games. As for Tekken 8, the game is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 from scratch, according to Harad.
Katsuhiro Harada asks to pay attention in the trailer to the raindrops that flow down the faces of Jin and Kazuya – they directly interact with the hero models and roll over them, for this the developers did not need to create separate parameters, as they did before. Another small but important detail in Tekken 8, which was created using the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5, is dirty clothes. It will get dirty exactly in those places where the heroes fall, and not just get dirty on the scripts as the battle progresses.
Katsuhiro Harada says that Tekken 8 is a combination of experience and new ideas. The game is being developed by a team that has many veterans of the Tekken series who have worked on the franchise for 20 years, but there are also new specialists in it who can look at the series with a “young look”.
Recall that Tekken 8 will be released on Xbox Series X | S, Playstation 5 and PC. The game has no release date yet.
