From Kratfon, publisher of PUBG and The Callisto Protocol comes a sort of concept trailer for a game not yet announced but which is inspired by the Korean novel The Bird that Drinks Tears, which therefore presents itself with a video with a strongly cinematic tone and that does not leave understand well what it is, in videogame terms.
The Nhaga Eater, this is the name of the trailer in question, is identified as a “Visual concept trailer”, so it is to be taken above all as a reference to the atmospheres, settings and general tone that Krafton wants for this new title. In any case, we are clearly faced with something very different compared to PUBG, the main title of the Korean holding, but also compared to The Callisto Protocol.
All this demonstrates the willingness, on the part of the company, to range between different genres and themes, in this case going to fish from a very interesting and unusual source of inspiration. The Bird That Drinks Tears is in fact a fantasy novel by Lee Yeongdo, which stages a story within a strange eclectic setting formed by elements of Western fantasy fused with Korean traditions.
It is a sort of mythological saga that brings together creatures typical of classic fantasy with oriental characters and characteristics, connecting to Korean folklore and legends. It is not clear how all this translates into a video game, but the source of inspiration is undoubtedly very interesting.
