Speaking in the latest issue of PLAY Magazine (Issue #19), Asobo Lead Level Designer Kevin Pinson revealed that players will need between 15-18 hours to complete A Plague Tale Requiem. Please note that this assumption is based on their own playthrough of the game, which means it may be shorter or longer depending on the player.
Some of you may think that the studio artificially stretched the game in order to make it more authentic. At least, according to Kevin, this is not the case, and publisher Focus Interactive even encouraged the team to make the game as long as they wanted, as long as they could tell the story they wanted.
It’s all about the pace, there’s no extra content, no attempt to make the game longer. Our publisher Focus Interactive encourages us to make the length we want to make for the game, for the story we want to tell. Therefore, we do not strive for a certain number of hours. This is not an aspect that we take into account when we are working on a game.
It’s great to see the studios give enough leeway, and it’ll be interesting to see how it all unfolds next month when A Plague Tale Requiem releases October 18 on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
