The GTA VI leak over the weekend gave us a lot of information about Rockstar’s new game. It tweaked the Vice City setting, two protagonists, and a lot of gameplay improvements. However, what is not clear from the leak is the scale of the map. However, rough estimates indicate that the map may be twice as large as Los Santos from GTA 5.
These assumptions are based on the various coordinates seen in the cutscenes. The coordinates indicate the position of the character in the game world. For example, in one case, you can see that the location is -7191. Although the entire map of modern Vice City is unlikely to fit into a rectangle, the overall global map will be on a rectangular grid. At least that’s how it works in most games. This means that in addition to the -7191 value, there may be +7191.
Redditor Jumbo04 believes that the map could be 14382 x 14382 units, assuming the reference point is in the center of the map. In addition, the fan noticed how the coordinates change, and apparently, one unit on the map is equal to one meter.
Thus, if the coordinates 0.0 are in the center of the map, then the total area of the world will be 206.8 square kilometers. For comparison, the approximate size of the GTA 5 map is about 80 kilometers, at least such calculations can be found on the net.
If the calculations are correct, then Vice City in GTA 6 could be twice the size of Los Santos, subject to water and areas outside the city. In addition, Jumbo04 started making a location map based on coordinates.
However, the redditor’s calculations may not be entirely correct. The GTA VI map could be even bigger, going beyond the values it found. But without more coordinates, it is still difficult to draw conclusions. In any case, we will see a lot of interesting things.
