Not everyone knows this, but the icy planet Neptune has rings. Back in 1989, the Voyager-2 spacecraft managed to photograph them. But the current picture is much better.
Neptune was discovered in 1846. This planet is 30 times farther from the Sun than the Earth. If a person were standing on the surface of Neptune, then the Sun would look like a small and dim dot (this is how distant stars look from Earth). Noon on Neptune is more like an Earth evening. Neptune is called an ice giant. It consists of many elements heavier than hydrogen and helium, methane gas is present.
“James Webb” photographed Neptune using a near-infrared camera (NIRCam). That is why in the photo Neptune is not blue, as it really is. Methane absorbs red and infrared light.
The telescope also photographed 7 (out of 14) satellites of Neptune.
