Seems Gearbox did exactly the right thing with the release of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and launched a second strong brand alongside Borderlands. At least that’s the impression Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford gives.
At the annual meeting of the Embracer Group there were not only sad faces like Lars Wingeford on Saints Row. Randy Pitchford, boss of Gearbox, which was acquired by Embracer Group last year, is pleased with the successful launch of a new brand and its bright prospects for the future.
“Wonderlands has exceeded all of our expectations, both in terms of reviews and sales, and I’m thrilled that on top of the great financial successes we’re about to achieve in the coming quarters, we’ve established a solid footing. We clearly have a new franchise on their hands now, with future experiences at Gearbox already in development,” said Pitchford.
This is good news for Gearbox, as well as for the players, because the statement now stands that there will be more content in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. What kind of these are remains to be seen. It is relatively likely that Gearbox will add DLCs again, even if the rather short DLCs of the Season Pass only caused moderate enthusiasm.
Of course, it’s also possible that a sequel is already in the works. According to current reports, Gearbox is working on a total of nine AAA games. If you look at the Borderlands series, another title is even more than likely. So rosy times for Gearbox and Tiny Tina fans.
