Like the game itself, Scorn’s achievements remain a mystery, but now a representative from developer Ebb Software has lifted the veil on what we can expect from their list of achievements and how long a single playthrough of a horror adventure game takes.
Scorn is exclusive to the Xbox Series X|S console and PC, releasing on October 21 and joining Xbox Game Pass on the day of release. Recently, the developers shared eight minutes of new Scorn gameplay, which did not show or tell anything special about the game. But participating in the Reddit AMA, the representative of Ebb Software answered questions from fans about the spooky adventure game, which resulted in some interesting details about how long it will take to complete Scorn, achievements in Scorn, and more.
According to Ebb Software, puzzles are “the key to progressing through the game” and a solo playthrough of the game will take “anywhere from six to eight hours, but can take much longer if you’re exploring the world and all the details it contains”.
Speaking about the puzzles we will face, Ebb Software stated:
Scorn is not a first person shooter; It’s an immersive, atmospheric horror movie. To emphasize this, the puzzles in the game are an integral part of the story and are designed in such a way that they do not feel like they were added to the game as a matter of course. They enrich the player’s experience, and as the game progresses, it becomes apparent that everything has a reason and a purpose… and the main mystery lies in the discovery of this reason.
While puzzles will be Scorn’s main focus, there are shooting elements in the game that “will come into play later and will be critical to players’ survival.”
In terms of achievements, Ebb Software has stated that some of them will be unlocked by beating the game normally, while others will be unlocked based on our decisions, which may mean we’ll have to make some difficult choices.
Achievements will unlock as you progress through the game, so they will be related to progress… and some will be related to your decisions.
Ebb Software also said that at this stage, “there is not the slightest possibility” of delaying Scorn, which is good news.
