Neil Druckmann, scriptwriter for The Last of Us, has played a small role in Return to Monkey Island, the new installment in the legendary quest series. Eurogamer drew attention to the name of the developer in the credits of the game.
Druckmann played one of the identically dressed prisoners in the fourth chapter.
The game director confirmed this observation in a tweet. At the same time, he expressed “eternal gratitude” to the authors of the adventure for achieving one of life’s goals.
Return to Monkey Island liked the co-director of Naughty Dog. He called it one of the best adventure games ever, exceeding even his “crazy expectations”. The developer congratulated one of the authors of the series, Ron Gilbert, on the success and thanked him for providing a copy before the release.
Judging by the photo of the game designer on Twitter, he went through the project on Steam Deck.
Return to Monkey Island is amazing! Easily one of the best adventure games ever made! Somehow lived up to my crazy high expectations. Huge congrats to @grumpygamer and co.!

Neil Druckmann already referenced the Mighty Pirate™ Guybrush Threepwood games in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Earlier, against the background of pleasant word of mouth around the sequel to Monkey Island, there were hints of the return of another cult franchise – Maniac Mansion. The producer of the copyright holder studio reacted to the success of the novelty.
