Last September, Apple launched its new range of smartphones, where we had the debut of the iPhone 14 Plus. This device thus offers fans of the brand an option with a large screen, but cheaper than the powerful Pro Max model.
When many thought this might be a genius strategy on Apple’s part, sales proved just the opposite. The failure of the iPhone 14 Plus is so obvious that the brand itself decided to stop its production.
Apple gives orders to stop production of iPhone 14 Plus
According to the publication The Information, the technology is reassessing the existing demand for the new iPhone 14 Plus. However, it has instructed its partners to immediately stop production of this smartphone.
According to sources close to the supply chain, at least one of the producers of the iPhone 14 Plus has received orders to stop production of the equipment. Two of the component suppliers for this model will reduce their production by 90%.
In the opposite direction, we have Apple instructing its partners to increase production of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Events that corroborate reports that Pro models are more preferred by users.
Even today we learned of a report from JP Morgan precisely informing that the demand for the base iPhone 14 was low. On the other hand, there is a greater demand for the Pro models of this family.
This market reaction to the decisions taken by Apple on its new devices is understandable. By providing the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus with the same specifications as the iPhone 13, and increasing their price, the preference for the Pro is understandable.
The iPhone 14 Plus can be purchased in Portugal from €1189, while the iPhone 14 Pro starts at €1349. For €160 more, it is understandable that users prefer the more expensive model, as it has better attributes than the first.
