On Wednesday, as part of the next round of the Ukrainian Premier League, the leader of our championship will meet with one of the outsiders. Dnipro-1 will play against Ingulets in Uzhgorod and try to extend their winning streak in the national championship.
The Dnipro club gave a simply stunning start to the championship, winning all six matches played. At the same time, Oleksandr Kucher’s wards beat all rivals confidently, only Veresa scored less than three goals. So it was before the previous round, in which the Lviv Rukh unexpectedly offered fierce resistance to the Dnipros. Despite two removals from the opponents, the Dnipro-1 players snatched the victory only in the fifth minute of the match. The duel in Lvov was remembered not only by a stubborn struggle, but also by a massive post-match fight, in which the sports director of Dnipro-1 Evgeny Krasnikov and the general director of Rukh Igor Dedyshin took part.
At the moment, Dnipro-1 is the team that scored the most and conceded the least (the Rukhites were the first to print the gates of Dnipro in the current championship). It is noteworthy that the sports clubs also had a great ending of last year, so the winning streak of Dnipro has 12 matches. This is a record for the Dnipro club. For four games in a row forward Artem Dovbik (6 goals), who leads the list of top scorers in the Premier League, signs for the opponents’ goal. The upcoming meeting may be an anniversary for Oleksiy Gutsulyak, who, if he enters the field, will play his 150th match in the UPL.
Petrivtsi have not yet felt the taste of victories in the current championship (3 draws and 3 defeats). At the same time, Ingulets did not play last weekend: Sergey Lavrinenko’s team played the 7th round match against Oleksandriya at the end of August, losing to rivals with a score of 1:2. Thus, the Petrovtsy have been purposefully preparing for a confrontation with the championship leader throughout the week and expect to break the winning streak of Dnipro. In their previous match, the players of the team from Petrovo took away a draw from Kovalevka, which can be considered an acceptable result for Ingulets.
In the UPL, the opponents played three matches: 2 wins for Dnipro-1 and a draw. Two more duels were held in the First League. Then the sports clubs won away with a score of 2:1, and on the Dnipro-1 field a super-battle draw was recorded – 3:3. Ingulets won the only victory over Dnipro in the 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup of the 2019/2020 season. By the way, Artem Dovbik scored a goal in the two previous confrontations between Dnipro-1 and Ingulets. It was the striker’s effective strike that brought the Dnipro team victory in November last year.
Forecast for confrontation
Dnipro-1 is leading the standings and is definitely not going to lose points in a match against one of the outsiders. A difficult victory over Rukh should be a signal for the Dnipros: no one is going to give them points just like that. Ingulets needs to get out of the basements of the standings, but it is unlikely that Petrovka will be able to at least not lose in the upcoming match. Our forecast will be a confident victory for Dnipro-1.
