Reviews of the Intel Arc A770 and Arc A750 showed that the graphics cards consume at least 41 watts of power even in idle mode. This is significantly higher than competitors, whose power consumption in the same conditions can be less than 10 watts. Intel suggested solution to the problem of excessive power consumption of their video cards.

Intel recommends changing some of the motherboard BIOS settings as well as the power management scheme in the Windows operating system to solve the problem of high idle power consumption of Arc graphics cards.

The Arc architecture uses L0 and L1 power modes for PCIe 2.0, which are not used by default and must be manually enabled by the user. The company recommends changing the ASPM (Active-State Power Management) settings in the BIOS. This is a power-saving PCIe bus technology. It is worth remembering that different manufacturers may use different names for the same parameter in the BIOS.
“Native ASPM must be set to Enabled in the BIOS. Then you need to find the PCI Express root port ASPM item and enable L1 Substates, ”Intel points out.
After that, Intel recommends that you select the maximum power saving mode for Link State Power Management in the Windows power settings, as shown in the screenshot below.
