There are currently no plans for a second season of the anime series Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
An anime series based on Cyberpunk 2077 gave the ailing role-playing game a second boost in September and ensured that the number of players shot up.
The first season of Cyberpunk Edgerunners comprised the independent story of street kid David, who struggles to survive in the futuristic city after the death of his mother in ten episodes.
But what are the chances of a second season?
Satoru Honma Country Manager of CD Projekt RED in Japan spoke to Famitsu about it. No second season is currently planned for the series, not even secretly in the background. In the future, however, they would like to produce more anime.
“Personally, I would like to continue working with Japanese studios to produce more anime in the future, also because we have received very good feedback. Just to be clear, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was planned as a standalone work, so there’s no ‘we’re working on season 2 in the background’.”
A possible second season of Edgerunners would also be questionable, because it could also be something completely different, he added.
“Even if we could do another anime in the future, I don’t know if it will be a season 2 or something completely different.”
All episodes of Cyberpunk Edgerunners are available via streaming provider Netflix.
