Apple has presented the new Apple TV 4K, with an A15 chipset and more storage space. The price starts from 169 euros.
In addition to the A15 processor, the second newest in Apple’s range, the new Apple TV also supports the HDR10+ standard from Samsung and Amazon. As a result, most of the image you watch on the TV will have HDR support. The storage space has also been boosted: the starter model has 64 GB and the upgrade has 128 GB.
The two models differ a bit from each other. Both have WiFi 6, but only the more expensive model has an Ethernet port and Thread network support. The latter is important for the smart hub aspect of the latest Apple TV 4K. Matter-enabled products can also be used with the device.
Siri remote with usb-c
Furthermore, as usual, the Apple TV is compatible with all Apple services: Music, TV+, Arcade, Fitness and so on. tvOS 16 will also be coming to the device later in the year, improving Siri commands. The TV itself will then be more controllable with your voice, but you will also be able to ask the Siri remote for viewing recommendations. It also becomes possible to control the TV via Siri via your AirPods.
Little changes on the Siri remote, except for charging. From now on, that will go via USB-C instead of Lightning. Whether that is Apple’s own initiative, or an answer to Europe’s universal charger, is not certain.
The Apple TV 4K is available for purchase now, but will not ship until November 4. The base model with 64 GB storage costs 169 euros. The upgrade with 128 GB storage, an Ethernet port and Thread network support costs 189 euros.
