The sparrows were already whistling it from the rooftops and now Konami has finally officially confirmed it: The survival horror classic “Silent Hill 2” is actually getting a remake. The game is in development at Bloober Team for PS5 and PC.
The rumors of the past few months have come true, because Konami is really working on a new edition of the survival horror classic “Silent Hill 2”. Responsible for the development of the remake is the Polish developer studio Bloober Team, who have already gained a lot of experience in the horror genre in recent years with titles like “Blair Witch” or “Layers of Fear”. The official announcement of the project, which will be released as a console exclusive for the PlayStation 5, was made as part of a Online-Events.

The first trailer, which you can check out below, also confirms the return of two franchise veterans. Masahiro Ito will once again contribute the creature design, while Akira Yamaoka is in charge of the game’s music. The latter previously worked with Bloober Team on The Medium. Ito confirms that the first talks regarding a revival of the title took place three years ago. He also admits that it has been difficult for him to keep this secret as many fans have been asking him about the future of the series on Twitter.
In a short video message, Yamaoka is very pleased about the upcoming new edition of “Silent Hill 2”. For the remake he set himself the challenge of “creating a new kind of music”. His goal is to convince both long-established fans of the title and those who have not yet come into contact with the survival horror classic. In closing, he hopes everyone will look forward to the game’s release.
Of course, members of Bloober Team also commented on their current project. Creative Director Mateusz Lenart says, “Silent Hill 2 is a cult classic and is widely recognized as one of the best games of all time.” CEO Piotr Babieno adds that for many gamers, Silent Hill was the game that launched them into the… would have fallen in love with the horror genre.
