In the past few days, various retailers have started listing the horror title “The Callisto Protocol” for a release in 2023. Is a postponement really imminent? The developers at Striking Distance Studios immediately provided clarity.
Horror fans can look forward to several potential highlights in the coming months. While the Dead Space remake is due out in early 2023, Striking Distance Studios’ The Callisto Protocol was confirmed a few weeks ago for a December release.
In the past few hours, the information from individual retailers who suddenly began to list “The Callisto Protocol” for a release next year caused a little confusion. So is a postponement imminent? In order to prevent any rumors or speculation from arising in this regard, the responsible developers at Striking Distance Studios spoke up via Twitter and assured that there was no need to fear a postponement.
Instead, The Callisto Protocol will be released in December 2022 as planned.
60FPS mode confirmed
Another good piece of information was shared with the community in the same breath: In contrast to other multi-platform titles such as “Gotham Knights” or “A Plague Tale: Requiem”, “The Callisto Protocol” is provided with a performance or 60FPS mode. However, it is still unclear whether this is only part of the game on the PC and the current PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S consoles, or whether the PS4 and Xbox One will also be equipped with the 60FPS mode.
The Callisto Protocol takes you to the eponymous moon of Jupiter, Callisto, where, according to the developer, a next-generation survival horror experience awaits. “The game is a successful blend of suspense and brutality with terrifying moments of helplessness and humanity,” the developers state. “In The Callisto Protocol, the player is immersed in a breathtaking story where horrifying horrors lurk around every corner.”
