Finally, new game of the Sims saga was announced yesterday. However, its release is still a long way off and EA has chosen to switch The Sims 4 to free-to-play: this format change brings about some technical innovations, especially for PC configurations. Here is all you need to know.
While it’s been around for years and years already, The Sims 4 still has some time ahead of it. This is also why Electronic Arts announced the passage of the title in free-to-playjust to hold out until the advent of Project René, the code name of the brand new title unveiled yesterday.
First thing to know: the game will no longer be able to run on macOS Lion in version 10.7. If you have the game on this operating system, Electronic Arts advises you not to update the game if you want to continue playing.
Also, The Sims 4 is going to undergo a major change, literally: it will now take 50 GB of free space on PC to enjoy it (compared to around 10 GB previously), without extensions. The Sims 4: Laptop Mode
The Sims 4 has a mode dedicated to laptops, so as to adapt with an improved framerate (for diminished graphics) and battery conservation. Here’s how to activate it, whether you’re on PC or Mac:
