Now that it has released a new Apple TV 4K model, Apple has finally discontinued its base model Apple TV HD.
After having “survived” other new releases, the equipment will now have reached the end of its useful life. But due to the quiet way Apple is discontinuing it, it’s unclear whether Apple TV HD can still be purchased from other online stores.

Earlier this week, Apple launched new products on the market, which included a new model of Apple TV 4K. This release dictated the end of life of the basic model Apple TV HD.
Today, news is focusing on how the Cupertino company quietly removed older equipment from its websites and online stores. However, no one can clarify whether it is still possible to purchase this “relic” in other online stores.
It is recalled that Apple TV HD hit the market in 2015 and that it was the first model to run the tvOS operating system and, consequently, also the first to bring the App Store with third-party applications to Apple TV. This would be, in fact, one of its great novelties at the time of its launch.
Another of the novelties was the fact of integrating Siri Remote that arrived with touchpad and movement sensors. When Apple TV HD arrived it was equipped with an A8 chip (like the iPhone 6) paired with 2 GB of RAM.

Two years later, the Cupertino company announces its first Apple TV with support for 4K HDR content that arrived with the A10X Fusion processor at the controls. And Apple TV HD remained on sale.
In 2021, the Apple TV 4K arrives with the A12 Bionic processor and a completely renewed Siri Remote. Once again, Apple TV HD has survived, staying on store shelves.
But with the arrival of the new Apple TV 4K 2022, it was a different story. Some analysts suggest that it makes no sense for Apple to keep a device that has basic specifications at an expensive price and, therefore, nothing better than discontinuing it and allowing the new 4K device to shine on its own in the brand’s stores.
The new Apple TV 4k 2022 arrives equipped with the A15 Bionic processor which, according to the information released, is up to 50% faster than the A12 chip. It also integrates Siri Remote with a USB Type-C charging port, instead of Lightning, and features two storage variants with 64 and 128 GB of capacity.
