For horror fans, the name James Sunderland is a term that evokes fond memories. The protagonist from Silent Hill 2, which was released for PlayStation 2 in 2001, was one of the main reasons why the installment is still considered the best in the series. A perfect mix of horror and puzzles inspired players and critics at the time. Above all, the different, sometimes absurd endings provided enormous replay value. A remake was only a matter of time, but it wasn’t that easy for Konami. As the trailer reveals, the Polish developer studio Bloober Team will be responsible for the remake in the future. They drew attention to themselves with The Medium and are now faced with a mammoth task that is at least visually impressive:
After receiving a letter from his late wife, James goes to where they shared so many memories. Hoping to see her again: To Silent Hill! There, by the lake, he finds a woman who looks eerily like her…
“My name… is Maria,” the woman smiles. Her face, her voice… She’s just like her.
Experience a masterclass in psychological survival horror – hailed as the best in the series – on the latest hardware with terrifying graphics and visceral sound.
Silent Hill 2 will be released for PC and PlayStation 5.
