The rumors were correct – Konami not only announced the long-awaited remake of Silent Hill 2, but also a whole range of other projects – albeit with meager information.
The highlight of Konami’s nightly livestream was of course Bloober Team’s announcement of Silent Hill 2 Remake, but Konami had a whole stack of other Silent Hill-themed projects on the pan. Although the publisher was still very reticent when it came to more specific information, platforms or even dates of the new projects, there was at least some basic information and the first teaser trailer. Silent Hill f takes the series to Japan in the 1960s. Since the game is being written by Ryūkishi07, it is likely to be a visual novel. Former Nintendo developer Motoi Okamoto serves as producer, while Neobards Entertainment, known for ports and multiplayer projects Resident Evil: Resistance and Re:verse, is developing Silent Hill f. There was also no concrete information regarding dates or platforms.

In 2023, the game aims to immerse players around the world in the psychological horror of Silent Hill in a unique way – by putting an entirely new story in the hands of the audience, allowing the story to unfold live on multiple platforms. The teaser doesn’t tell us exactly how it’s supposed to work either.

With Return to Silent Hill it is now also clear why director Christophe Gans recently chatted about Silent Hill. The creator of the 2006 Silent Hill film has been commissioned to remake the series. What exactly awaits us there will also be revealed at a later date. The only thing that is certain is that the story should be based on Silent Hill 2. Story and image board are already prepared, the casting is in progress. Accordingly, filming is not to be expected for the time being.

Christophe Gans, the horror film director and producer best known for his work on Beauty and the Beast (2014) and the original film Silent Hill (2006), will direct a new film adaptation called Return to Silent Hill ” instructed.
Aside from Silent Hill 2 Remake, there’s a lot of name dropping and little substance, but at least horror fans can look forward to the legendary series finally coming back to life.
