On October 18, Apple unveiled its brand new iPad 10, packed with new features. But that doesn’t mean that the previous generation, the iPad 9, is disappearing from the shelves: the apple brand has decided to keep it in the catalog… but by increasing its base price of 50 euros. An increase that it has also applied to the rest of its range of tablets, in particular due to inflation. A design that does not change, but works
It is not with its iPad 9 that Apple introduced a major change in the design of its tablets. Thus, this model released in 2021 looks just like the iPad 2020 edition: the tablet has kept its large borders (which have been reduced on the upcoming iPad 10) around the screen, as well as its button Home equipped with Touch ID to unlock access via fingerprint. The Retina screen (therefore LCD) always adopts a diagonal of 10.2 inches with True Tone compatibility: concretely, the panel is able to adapt to the ambient light and to modulate the color temperature. In addition, it is still possible to use the Apple Pencil (sold separately), on this screen. A good point for creative people.
Not insignificant power
If with the release of the iPad 10, the iPad 9 has mechanically become the entry level of Apple’s tablets, the power of this model presented here is still very interesting. It thus embeds an A13 Bionic chip, which was already found in the iPhone 11 range. Result: the various tasks are carried out in a fluid and fast manner, the graphics of 3D games are more detailed and the longevity of the tablet is assured. The iPadOS interface is still as responsive as ever. Also remember that the iPad can also act as a mini console and let you enjoy Apple Arcade if you connect a controller via Bluetooth.
Regarding its photo part, the iPad 9 has the merit of integrating a 12 megapixel camera on the front, against 8 megapixels in the previous generation. Enough to ensure better quality for your shots captured in selfie mode, but also for your video calls when you use Face Time, for example.
A tablet still just as autonomous
The iPad 9 benefits, like most iPads, from a very good battery life. It is thus possible to use the tablet for about ten hours before having to recharge it. If your uses are not very energy-intensive, for example by favoring standard use with a little mobile gaming, browsing and writing emails, then this endurance may be even better.
