Ninja Theory’s upcoming game, Hellblade 2, promises to be one of the most visually pleasing games out there. In a new tweet, the developer shared how they are using the anamorphic cinema technique that can only be found in the movies in Hellblade 2.
In the video, the developer explained how this technique of rendering anamorphic cinema in the game engine helps Hellblade 2 achieve its goal of “an immersive cinematic experience.” Ninja Theory explains this in detail, mixing distortion, chromatic aberration, spherical aberration, and bokeh effects to reproduce the look of an anamorphic movie.
They also use multiple films to visualize what they want to achieve, including Batman, Blade Runner, and Moonlight.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is currently in development for PC and Xbox Series X | S, no release date yet.
