It seems that for Overwatch 2 there is not a moment of respite. After discussing the Lucio skin capable of making you visible through the walls of the game, the community found itself confronted with another very relevant problem: the toxicity of the players.
The discussion was opened on Reddit by user Malina_Island, according to whom Overwatch 2 would be even worse than the previous one, in terms of toxicity. The user claimed to receive dozens of threatening messages per day within the game’s chat, far more than he has ever received in the past. In short, the description is that of a frustrating experience, within an environment in which positivity seems to be completely absent.
During the discussion, several users expressed their opinion on the reasons linked to this phenomenon. According to many, since Overwatch went free, its fanbase has grown enormously, leading to a greater spread of ‘hotheads’.
But the real problems lie, apparently, in the fact that the process of obtaining the skins forces players to a certain number of wins linked to the weekly challenges. An apparently very stressful process that could be one of the contributing causes of the anger accumulated by many of these players, frustrated at having failed their in-game objectives.
In any case, these behaviors they are absolutely not to be tolerated, especially in community games like Blizzard’s. We therefore hope that the developers continue to administer the situation judiciously.
Meanwhile, and with the end of October approaching, the Overwatch 2 Halloween event is coming up. This event, that it will last from 25 October to 8 November, will allow players to participate in PvE activities against the armies of the evil Dr. Junkenstein. Users will then be able to obtain rewards such as skins, emotes and much more with a horror theme.
