Android’s notification system is very important because it helps us to be aware of everything that is going on. That’s why when they stop working as they should, things get complicated. However, there are many solutions. That said, we’re going to give you eight tips to not miss notifications on your Android smartphone and we’re going to explain how you can see everything you’ve received previously.
Android: eight tips to not miss notifications
1. Restart your smartphone
Many times we start to lose notifications on our Android smartphone and we don’t even realize it. In fact, we only notice when someone tells us they sent us a message and we don’t respond. For this it is a good idea to restart the smartphone. In doing so, we put an end to any background processes or services that might interfere with an application’s ability to show notifications. This will also reset the main components of the smartphone. That is, it is always the first thing to try. However, if they don’t come back, read on.
2. View application settings
If restarting didn’t help, one of the most common reasons for notifications not appearing on Android is because they got turned off for some reason. It has happened to me in some apps, as in the case of WhatsApp.
That said, most Android apps have their own set of customizable notification options to modify how often they can provide alerts, what type of notifications and much more. Gmail, for example, allows you to completely turn off syncing. So make sure you haven’t accidentally tapped any buttons to turn this feature off while browsing an app’s settings.
3. Disable battery optimizations
To preserve battery life and prevent apps you don’t use regularly from running in the background, Android uses AI-based battery optimizations. Yet the algorithms are not perfect and can cause problems. This can cause us to miss notifications.
In fact, Android’s adaptive battery functionality can cause notifications problems. In some cases it is good to disable this function just to see if things improve.
4. Reinstall the app that is giving you problems
Sometimes the problems are only related to an app that stops showing notifications. In these cases the best option is to reinstall the app. This is because it erases by “resetting” the notifications of that app.
Check do not disturb mode
Most Android smartphones come with a do not disturb mode. Sometimes, some people activate it without realizing it. Especially those who don’t even know it exists. So check in the settings if for some reason it is active.
5. See what’s behind
Notifications are something very important and that no one wants to miss. However, if you have a Samsung smartphone, you have the added value of being able to easily consult the history of everything that is received.
So go to settings and look for Advanced Settings.
Then click on the Notification History option.
Then you just have to press the button to activate the notification history.
Then, to see all notifications received from a specific application in the last 24 hours, just tap the icon next to that application.
By doing all this and checking if there is something wrong with your Android smartphone, you will never miss notifications again.
