Gmail and Google Chat are getting new features that will make life a lot easier for Google Workspace users.
With a new update for Gmail and Google Chat, Google makes it easier to find old emails and messages from colleagues. Specifically, the search bar and the search window are getting a real makeover, as they will now show real-time search results. In other words, as you type, you’ll see what you’re looking for. Your previous searches are also saved so that Google can make suggestions based on your search behavior. In addition, Google also ensures that you do not always have to search your entire mailbox: it is now also possible to limit your search to certain labels, so that you can search much more specifically. You must first have assigned those labels to your e-mails. Within the search you can also filter further by sender, attachment and date.
Can’t find what you’re looking for? No problem! Gmail will now also show related results. In the event that the search does not yield anything, you will not be left empty-handed.
Gmail and Google Chat for professionals
The new search features in Gmail and Google Chat are accessible to everyone. Google is also rolling out some features that are only usable for business customers. For example, in Gmail it is now possible to send personalized bulk e-mails, with the name of the recipients in it. In e-mails sent to a contact list, fill in alternates, such as ‘@firstname’ or ‘@lastname’. The recipient of the email will then simply see his first or last name.
In addition, there will also be personalized emojis for Google Chat users. The feature is only available for business Google accounts and allows each team member to create their own emoji. The emojis can then be viewed and used by everyone on the team, unless guests or external employees are present in the conversation.
The update is available for both the web versions of Gmail and Google Chat as well as the mobile version. Your e-mails must then be synchronized.
