It seems that Japanese gamers will have to do without the latest Striking Distance effort. The Callisto Protocol will not be released in Japan. To decide it is the local authority for the evaluation of video games, the CERO (equivalent of our PEGI). Impossible to set an age limit appropriate to the game contents. By law, every video game needs an evaluation by the relevant regulatory body before being published. Solution, the title will not be released in Japan.
The announcement is made by The Callisto Protocol’s official Japanese-language Twitter account. A real shame for the “Joypad colleagues” on the other side of the world. The title, born from an idea of Glen Schofield, created by Striking Distance (risen from the ashes of Visceral Studio) and supported by Krafton, represents a sort of spiritual heir of Dead Space. Many of the current developers, in fact, come from the team that contributed to the realization of the horror of Electronic Arts starring Isaac Clarke.
The game will be available starting December 2, 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC. The title will be quite full-bodied and will last 12-14 hours. Just in recent days, Krafton had informed – in a joint post with Striking Distance – that The Callisto Protocol had entered the gold phase.
In other words, the promise made shortly before was followed up, that is, that the release date would be respected. In this regard, still in the same period, Striking Distance again reassured gamers concerned about the possibility that the developers had given up on the 60fps performance mode on next-gen in favor of greater graphics. It seems that even that danger has been averted.
A doubt remains: what if it were a well-designed advertising stunt? What can more gluttony do than the forbidden? It would not be the first time. Rockstar Games, for example, specifically asked for reviews and scare articles to increase the hype behind some GTAs. The possibility cannot be ruled out but, at the moment, in the face of an official statement, it is mere speculation. If in doubt, better to book a copy right? Take advantage of the Amazon box that we provide below, you will find the various versions available for purchase.
