Do you have an older TV at home, or a monitor, that you would like to use for a bedroom, or to watch some series in the kitchen, while you prepare your meals? Of course, it’s almost mandatory to have access to smart features!
Well, there are extremely practical solutions to this type of problem! Solutions that can result in the reuse of old hardware, which is always good for the environment, and of course, end up saving money.
Let’s go by parts?
Transform your old TV into a Smart TV with streaming apps
Realme TV Stick 4K -> Can buy here
So in case you didn’t know, as long as your TV has an HDMI input, anything is possible!
With the right peripheral, you’ll be able to install streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+ or HBO Max. Furthermore, you can install apps to watch various IPTV channels for free, and legally, thanks to apps like Kodi.
In addition to all this, you can even install other types of apps, such as YouTube, Spotify, or even games, if you wish.
You can do this on any type of TV, be it LCD, Plasma, LED, QLED, OLED, etc… As I said above, you just need an HDMI input. As?
Well, to have access to Smart features on your TV, you will have to buy a small device with its own processing capabilities. That is, with a processor, RAM, storage capacity, and of course, its own OS. This device will also need its own power supply, but it is usually possible to use the USB ports on your TV or Monitor to supply it with power.
As you can imagine, this gadget also comes with its own command, to have access to all the new features, in an easier way.
Examples of this type of device are the old but still very popular Chromecast from Google, but also other types of devices such as the Xiaomi TV Sticknow available in several versions, or Oppo’s alternative, the RealMe TV Stickboth solutions based on the Google TV operating system, which, of course, offers access to the Google Play Store and its thousands of apps.
If you want something more specific, we still have the Amazon Fire Stick with Alexa Virtual Assistant support.
However, if you want something similar, but cheaper, there are several types of TV Boxes on the market, “white label”, at extremely attractive prices, with the promise of free television via IPTV and Android. However, honestly, in my opinion, it is always worth opting for a more recognized brand, with a well-implemented official Operating System, than going after saving money just because.
