Abduction alert: Infinity Ward has, for some unknown reason, simply removed a multiplayer map from Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for its launch, which takes place today. Is it to better put it back later?
Today is the big day : After a week of early access single-player campaign, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is finally making its global launch. This means that competitive multiplayer and co-op mode are finally available and that the servers can be taken over by the few million players eager to fight it out, with firecrackers in support.
The opportunity also to note that, oddly, a multiplayer map has disappeared from radar: the Valderas Museum. However, this was indeed available during the betas and this therefore reduces the number of maps, in 6v6, from 11 to 10.
For a better comeback later?
Inevitably, the most picky players grumble a little: the too few maps was a strongly criticized point of Black Ops Cold War, with only 8 maps at launch. Modern Warfare 2 is therefore close to it and above all does much less well than Vanguard, which offered 16 maps in 6v6 on the day of its arrival.
Of course, there must be a reason for that. For many, the Valderas Museum was considered too big and therefore not suitable for 6v6: it is therefore possible that Infinity Ward keeps it for another game mode, with more players. We will see.
We recall that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One.
