However in some cases we can use this TV for other things. For example as a computer monitor to work on the couch. However if you are thinking of using your TV as a monitor there are a few things you need to know. It’s just that in some cases it can be a bad idea!

The size difference between a regular computer monitor and a TV is perhaps the reason you are considering replacing your monitor with your TV. But as tempting as it is to look at everything on the bigger screen, the massive size difference can be quite a headache.

For example, if you want to change the viewing position of your PC monitor, you can easily tilt or rotate it. The same process can be quite difficult or even impossible with your TV. Of course, in many cases it may not be necessary, but in others it may be important. Grabbing the TV and placing it on the desk to solve the positioning problem can also be a bad idea. This is because we are left with a very large screen for a very small working distance.
Resolution is the total number of pixels on your screen. A 1080p (1920×1080) screen has a little over 2 million pixels. But why is resolution an issue when both your TV and monitor have 1080p displays? Well, that’s because your TV shows those 2 million pixels through a 55-inch panel, while your monitor can display the same amount through a 27-inch panel.
Since the monitor is smaller, every centimeter has significantly more pixels. This is called Pixel Per Inch (PPI) or Pixel Per Inch, and the higher the PPI, the sharper the image.
Lag is, in practice, the delay that appears between the moment we press the keyboard or move the mouse and the effect that appears on the screen. Most televisions have 20 to 30 milliseconds of lag while many monitors have less than 5 milliseconds. Of course if your TV is equipped with a gamer mode, we can expect input lag to be as low as 8 milliseconds. However monitors will always do better.
Response time refers to the time it takes for each pixel on the panel to change its colors. Since TV screens are made for movies and videos, they prioritize better picture quality with higher contrast and richer colors. However, all this image processing leads to a longer response time.
Dedicated PC monitors are generally more inclined to provide a sharper image and do not require a lot of processing, resulting in significantly lower response time.
On average, if a TV screen has a response time of around 15 milliseconds, monitors will have 5 milliseconds. Now a higher response time can make our life difficult in some games.
The number of times the preview pane refreshes in one second is called the refresh rate. A regular TV has a refresh rate of 60 Hz, which means your screen can be refreshed 60 times in a second.
On the other hand, high-end monitors usually have a refresh rate of 120 Hertz, with some models going up to 240 Hertz. Refresh rate matters a lot in games, so when we play for real we feel like everything is better on the monitor.
Televisions tend to process images a lot, which can cause a longer response time. While image processing makes movies and videos look good on the screen, colors look fuzzy.
Consequently, if you want to edit images and videos, the screen must be as accurate as possible. Televisions just can’t do it compared to monitors.
