The system of ping of the multiplayer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been temporarily disabled in the game, as some players have found a way to use it to see enemies through walls for the duration of matches, as if it were some sort of “wallhack”.
As we can see in the video below, due to the glitch it is possible to activate the ping on an opponent after being killed and this indicator would remain active for the whole game, giving way to always know precisely the exact position of the unfortunate marked.
Wallhack, in the jargon of online multiplayer games, is basically a cheat which allows you to see through walls and other obstructions that obstruct your view. It goes without saying how advantageous it is in a multiplayer shooter to know precisely the position of an enemy at all times, even when they are behind a wall.
In this case we are talking about a limited wallhack, since it seems it is possible to mark only one player at a time, but in any case it is a considerable advantage, so much so that in a short time the question arrived on social networks.
The intervention by Infinity Ward fortunately was not long in coming, with the developers having promptly disabled Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s ping system temporarily. At the moment the studio has not officially commented on the issue and it is unclear when this feature will return to the game.
Who more or less, practically any online multiplayer game has to deal with server problems, balance or various glitches, but what happened with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is undoubtedly a very special case.
Considering the great commitment made by Activision developers for the anti-cheat Ricochet and countering the players who use cheats, it is really the height that a mechanic itself of the game becomes a sort of authorized wallhack.
Staying on the subject, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players on Xbox and PC are also complaining about the absence of an option to disable crossplay, which is present on PS5 and PS4.
