Hardware news Galaxy S22 sales are better than expected, Samsung in heaven

Samsung’s results for the third quarter of 2022 are looking good, and the South Korean firm can essentially thank its Galaxy S22 range for that: it manages to do better than the Galaxy S21 range which was already selling very well l ‘last year.
When manufacturers of high-tech devices record very good results, they tend to say so clearly. And in this period of quarterly results, it is quite normal to see these kinds of announcements. Not all companies are necessarily in good shape, but this is the case of Samsung, which highlights significant sales of its range of high-end Samsung Galaxy S22 smartphones.
Samsung sells Galaxy S22 palettes and welcomes it
“The Galaxy S22 series, launched in the first half of the year, maintained strong sales momentum, showing significant revenue growth over the previous year,” said the manufacturer in particular during its recent call to shareholders. When the company talks about “the previous year”, it is of course talking about the Samsung Galaxy S21, its collection of entry-level smartphones formalized during the first quarter of 2021.
However, Samsung does not say more on the subject: it is therefore not clear if the company sells more Galaxy S22 than Galaxy S21, or if it sells more Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra, which would allow him to generate more income. The question of models with greater storage capacity, and therefore more expensive, can also be raised.
In reality, the answer to this question is ultimately quite incidental for Samsung, which sums it all up by ensuring that the Galaxy S22 lineup is a hit that helps it generate big revenue more this year than the Galaxy S21 lineup last year. And this is the main thing for the company, especially since the smartphone market is not doing well overall, with sales which fell by 9% in the third quarter according to the firm Canalys.
Samsung’s foldable smartphones in great shape
Other information to take away from Samsung’s announcements: “Sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 showed strong growth compared to previous models, despite a difficult market environment”. This is a positive point for the manufacturer, which continues to bet each year on these two models of foldable smartphones whose prices remain particularly high at present.
It can be recalled, in this regard, that Samsung announced last summer that it had sold more than 10 million foldable terminals worldwide in 2021. This represented a 300% increase compared to 2020 and we can expect the manufacturer to break a new record this year. To find out, we will have to wait for him to communicate slightly clearer figures on the subject.
Revenues in good shape on the side of Samsung smartphones, but…
In summary, Samsung’s turnover reaches 53.66 billion euros in the third quarter of 2022, which should allow him to break his 2021 record at the end of the year. However, it should still be noted that the company is showing a decline in revenues in certain sectors, in particular that of electronic components and connected TVs. Its Mobile Experience division is a success that allows the South Korean firm to keep its good mood in a rather dull context, in particular due to global inflation.
