At the cult economic survivor Dwarf Fortress release date has arrived. Updated, improved and time-tested edition will be available in Steam December 6. The game will also appear on the same day in Itch.io.
The deepest and most complex dwarven fortress simulator was first introduced to players more than sixteen years ago, in August 2006, and Tharn and Zach Adams have been working on it since 2002. So for the new release, they neither changed the content nor added it.
However, something in the game will change radically, and this is primarily the appearance. Instead of ASCII characters, the Steam version will have conditional, but nevertheless recognizable and readable graphics. Accompanying the gameplay will be a professional soundtrack with songs in the gnome language. And for beginners, a tutorial has been prepared that will allow them to build their first fortress in their life and have fun losing it.
After the release, the developers plan to continue improving the appearance of Dwarf Fortress. There will be achievements, Steam Workshop support, arena and adventure modes, as well as new systems and features.
